A margin above 30% gives most Etsy sellers room to absorb promotions, shipping changes, and occasional fee increases without going negative. Margins below 15% often become unsustainable once you account for packaging variation and ad spend fluctuation.

Profit is the dollar amount left over. Margin is the percentage of revenue that becomes profit. Two listings can have the same profit dollars but very different margins, which tells you which listing is more efficient to scale.
